North Park Seafood Restaurant Adds “Record” Lobster Roll to Menu
San Diego, CA – When he opened Pete’s Seafood and Sandwich in North Park, owner Pete DeCoste had big plans to bring authentic New England style seafood and food to San Diegans. Two years later Pete has bigger plans – the introduction of the largest lobster roll in San Diego, maybe the country.
“Our lobster roll has been one of our best-selling items since we opened,” states Pete. “We use 100% Maine lobster to make our lobster rolls, and we get people from all over San Diego coming in to taste the authentic New England flavors.”
Pete’s traditional lobster roll is made with over 4 ounces of lobster claw meat served in a classic roll. The new jumbo roll is loaded with more than 2 pounds of lobster meat in a 16-inch roll.
“It takes between 8 to 10 lobsters to make one of our jumbo rolls,” Pete adds. “This roll can be an appetizer for 8 people, a meal for 4, or a feast for 1 person.”
The jumbo roll is now a standard menu item ($125) available every day for dine-in or carry out. Catering is also available.
“We haven’t had one person eat an entire jumbo roll…yet,” states Pete. “But it’ll happen. We have some customers who typically order 2 or 4 of our normal rolls.”
To mark the launch of their jumbo roll, Pete’s Seafood and Sandwich is looking for the “biggest lobster roll fans” in San Diego. The restaurant is running a contest to find the biggest lobster roll fan, or group of fans, in town with the winner getting one free jumbo roll. More details at www.bostonpetes.com.
